In conversation with Mohamed Jaidah, group executive director, Jaidah Group
Can you tell us about the inception of Jaidah Group and its evolution over the years?
Jaidah Group is one of Qatar’s oldest family businesses with its origins dating back to 1898. Over the last 130-plus years, the business has diversified into key sectors including automotive, heavy equipment, energy, electrical and industrial supplies.
What are the sectors and industries that Jaidah Group operates in and how do they contribute to the overall portfolio of the company?
Jaidah Group’s operation across several key sectors has significantly contributed to its overall portfolio. In the automotive sector, we have a historical partnership with Chevrolet and, more recently, with Hyundai, Genesis and Geely.
Additionally, we are market leaders in the heavy equipment industry, supplying high-quality products and solutions for major construction and development projects in Qatar for over 30 years.
The key to our success has been building strong, long-term partnerships with top international brands such as Sany, Isuzu, Bobcat, Schneider Electric and ABB, among others.
Following the 2022 Fifa World Cup, Jaidah Group has also significantly invested in the oil and gas sector through Jaidah Energy, capitalising on increased activity in this area.
These diverse sectors have helped bolster the group’s market presence, highlighting our contribution to Qatar’s development, including the construction of early high-rise towers and modern infrastructure projects.
Which of Jaidah Group’s key projects or partnerships in the oil and gas sector have significantly impacted the industry?
Jaidah Energy, incorporated four decades ago, has evolved from a trading business into a service provider through major investments in technology, equipment and capabilities.
We offer mechanical and instrumentation solutions, well services, safety equipment and chemicals for both the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors in Qatar. Additionally, we provide mud-logging services to help partners assess the presence of hydrocarbons, identify formation characteristics and ensure drilling safety and efficiency.
Our involvement in the North Field Expansion Project includes collaboration with major local and international operators and extending services to international service companies, refineries, power plants and petrochemicals complexes. With plans to increase production in the North Field, we see significant potential for future growth in this area.
How does Jaidah Group manage its product distribution and retail operations, and what are the current brands and products the group works with?
Jaidah Group has undergone a major digital transformation, investing significantly to enhance quality and efficiency.
Centralising information was crucial, leading us to adopt technologies that improve operational efficiency. Leveraging platforms such as SAP, Salesforce and advanced analytics has helped to optimise processes across supply chain management, logistics, finance, stock management, customer relationship management and sales.
This transformation provides full oversight of our operations, enabling us to use data more effectively for informed business decisions.
