Japan invites the world to Osaka 2025

More than 150 nations are expected to participate at the next World Expo

The UAE, 86 other countries and six international organisations have so far confirmed their participation in the next World Expo in Japan.

This was disclosed on 30 March ,when senior representatives from Japan gathered at Expo 2020 Dubai to welcome the world to Osaka 2025.

Minister for Expo 2025 Wakamiya Kenji led the Japanese delegation, which included Yoshimura Hirofumi, governor of the Osaka prefecture; Matsui Ichiro, mayor of Osaka City; and Ichinoki Manatsu, deputy secretary-general of the Japan Association for the 2020 World Exposition.

The theme for the next expo is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives". It will be held at the Yumeshima Island in Osaka City, Kansai, across an area of approximately 155 hectares. Japan aims to bring in 28 million visitors for the event between 13 April and 13 October 2025.

This will be the third time that Osaka will host a World Expo, having previously hosted the event in 1970 and 1990.
