Project will link gas processing plant with Sitra storage facility
Japanese engineering group JGC has emerged as the sole bidder for a project to build gas pipelines and storage facilities in Bahrain.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the Field Pipelines and Sitra Storage Expansion Project was tendered by Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas).
JGC submitted a bid of $98.3m for the contract which was opened on 19 May, according to the Bahrain Tender Board.
The scope of work covers the installation of a 28-kilometre-long gas pipeline between the Banagas gas processing plant and its refrigerated gas storage facility at Sitra. The work on the latter will comprise of two storage tanks totalling 300,000 cubic metres, along with gas compressors, circulation pumps and propane refrigeration units.
The UKs Wood Group did the projects front-end engineering and design (FEED).
JGC was awarded a $355m contract by Banagas in November to expand the companys gas plant. JGC was one of three bidders along with US-based CB&I and Frances Technip.
