Municipality awards five contracts to four contractors to build drainage infrastructure
Jeddah Municipality has awarded five contracts worth a total value of SR3.39bn ($903m) to build floodwater prevention schemes in Jeddah.
The projects involve building five dams, expanding existing canals and building a new canal alongside the King Abdulaziz International airport.
The Snamprogetti Saudi Arabia Company, a local subsidiary of Italy’s Saipem Group, was awarded a SR1.3bn contract to build a rainwater drainage system for the new Jeddah airport.
The local Nesma & Partners Construction won an SR803m contract to build four dams at the Wadi Ghaya, Wadi Um Hablain, Wadi Daghbai and Wadi Briman. The contractor was also awarded another contract worth SR372m to build a dam in Wadi Ghalil and renovate the southern floodwater path.
The China Communications Construction Company was awarded a SR143m deal to renovate the northern floodwater path.
The local Saudi Pan Kingdom for Trade, Industry and Contracting (Sapac) was awarded a SR751 million contract to renovate the eastern floodwater path.
