Jeddah plans new TV station

Local and international firms are lining up to bid for the construction and supply contracts for a new TV production and broadcast complex in central Jeddah. The Information Ministry has extended the bid deadline for both contracts by three months to 5 March.

The Jeddah station will produce local current affairs, news and weather programmes for national broadcast. London-based consultants Theatretechhas completed designs for the SR 100 million ($27 million) interior of the building, which will contain production studios, editing suites and transmission facilities. Local architects Zuhair Fayez & Partnersare responsible for the design of the exterior of the complex. Details of the construction contract have not been disclosed.
