The $5.6bn tram system will have 201 stations
Saudi Arabia plans to build a $5.6bn tram system linking the various residential districts of the red sea Jeddah, Arab News has reported. Trams are part of a new general transport system to be introduced by the kingdom’s Transport Ministry. “The ministry of transport has a plan to operate 816 buses to link the city’s various districts as part of the new plan,” prince Khaled al-Faisal, the governor of Makkah said. The new system, which would pass through 12 main streets in the city, includes commuter and tourist trains and involves 201 stations and dozens of tramcars.
