Joint venture awarded Egypt wastewater contract

International and local firms will upgrade Alexandria wastewater treatment plant

A joint venture of the local Arab Contractors Company and France’s Suez has been awarded a $58.3m deal from the Egyptian government to upgrade a wastewater treatment plant in Alexandria, on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt.

The client for the project is the Ministry of Housing, with the project due to be completed by the end of 2020.

The work will involve constructing four tanks for sludge collection, a distribution tower, boiler building, gas tanks, gas treatment units, tank for bio gas sludge and a receiving tank. According to a statement from Arab Contractors, the project will be completed in two phases.

The first phase will entail improving the performance and efficiency of the plant, with the second phase aiming to reduce the environmental impact of sewage purification products.
