Joint venture wins stadium work in Dubai

The local/German joint venture of Arabtec Construction and Max Boegl has been formally awarded the two main stadium contracts at Dubai Sports City.
The local/German joint venture of Arabtec Construction and Max Boegl has been formally awarded the two main stadium contracts at Dubai Sports City.

The two contracts, which together are worth AED 830 million ($225 million), cover the design and construction of the main 60,000-seat multi-purpose outdoor stadium as well as the construction of the 10,000-seat indoor stadium. The joint venture was selected for the contract in February.

Australia's Clifton Coney Group is the project manager for the stadiums; Germany's Architekten von Gerkan Marg & Partners (GMP) is the architect.

Dubai Sports City is being promoted by a group of local investors comprising Abdul Rahim al-Zarooni, Abdul Rahman Falaknaz and Abdul Rahman Bukhatir (MEED 23:2:07).
