Jordan aims for 65 per cent of students to have education funded by 2014

Funding will come from scholarships and zero-interest loans

Jordanian minister of higher education, Walid Maani has announced that nearly 65 per cent of the country’s public university students are to have their education funded completely through scholarships and zero-interest loans by the year 2014, Jordan Times has reported. The move aims to increase the number of public university students who are to receive scholarships or loans from the ministry by 10 per cent. “We will change loan allocations into scholarships starting next year so that 35 per cent of all public university students will receive free education,” Maani told the daily.
