AED750m project was first launched in 2006
UAE hotel operator Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts is preparing to issue tender documents for the main construction contract on the AED750m ($204m) redevelopment of the Jumeirah Beach Club development in Dubai.
The project includes the construction of a two-storey hotel with a reception, restaurants, a spa, and two levels of basement parking; another separate spa building; 131 chalets; and two restaurants - one on the seashore and one on the marina’s breakwater.
Australia’s Bovis Lend Lease is the project manager.
Jumeirah first launched the project in July 2006 and planned to open it by the end of 2007 (MEED 7:6:09).
Jumeirah selected Khansaheb Civil Engineering as the contractor for the scheme in early 2007, but the company never started work on the project.
