Biography: K Ravindran took over as CEO in January 2008 after a turbulent period for the airline, which resulted in a series of changes among senior management as the carrier’s launch was repeatedly delayed.

The company’s third CEO in a year, Ravindran has the task of stabilising the business after it began operations in late 2007. He has 30 years experience in the industry, including managerial positions in the commercial department of Indian Airlines from 1977, where he oversaw a reorganisation of the route network and development of the company’s air courier business.

He has previously held senior positions at two start-up airlines - Oman Air in 1994 followed by India’s Jet Airways in 2005 - overseeing route management, network planning and fleet strategy.

Under his supervision, a strategy for fleet and network expansion has been finalised.
