US firm will increase services for oil company in line with the kingdom’s localisation targets

The US’ KBR has signed a contract with state oil company Saudi Aramco to increase services in the kingdom.

The services will be developed in line with Saudi Arabia’s localisation targets. As part of the kingdom’s localisation drive, Saudi Aramco is implementing the In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) initiative, which aims to double the percentage of locally produced energy-related goods and services to 70 per cent of the total spent by 2021.

In November 2016, KBR announced that its Saudi joint venture engineering operation with Azmi Abdulhadi & Abdulla al-Moaibed Consulting Engineering Company (AMCDE) had signed an amendment to extend its existing general engineering services plus (GES+) contract with Saudi Aramco.

KBR said that under the terms of the contract it will provide front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, material procurement, and project management services (PMS) to support Saudi Aramco’s capital programmes in Saudi Arabia.
