Kema wins Bahrain electricity network contract

20 February 2008
Dutch consultancy Kema has signed a contract with Bahrain’s Electricity & Water Authority (EWA) to improve the maintenance and operating processes of the country’s electricity transmission and distribution network.

Under the 18-month contract, Kema will provide a comprehensive inventory and assess the condition of all of EWA’s transmission and distribution equipment, as well as revising business processes and defining maintenance programmes.

It will also audit and review safety, human resources and organisational issues and install an asset management IT system.

Bahrain’s network includes 5,000 distribution stations, 80 high-voltage stations, 8,000 kilometres of underground cables and 450-kilometres of high-voltage overhead lines.
