Keppel wins NDC drilling rig contract

31 October 2003
Keppel FELS, the offshore arm of Singapore-based Keppel Offshore & Marine (O&M), announced on 28 October the award of a $96 million contract to build an offshore jack-up rig for Abu Dhabi-based National Drilling Company (NDC). The 307-feet-high rig will be built to operate in water depths of 150 feet. Construction is due to be completed in the third quarter of 2005. NDC provides drilling and support services to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) subsidiaries.

The NDC order is the second regional contract won by Keppel O&M in recent months. In July, it announced that it had received an order from Saudi Arabia's Hadi H al-Hamman for a 5,500-HP, AHTS vessel. The vessel is the fourth to be ordered by the Saudi Arabian company. The first was delivered in early 2002.
