Turkey's Nurol Group has been awarded the estimated AED 650 million ($177 million) main contract on the Khalidiya Rotana hotel and residences project on Abu Dhabi island (MEED 5:5:06).
With a built-up area of about 200,000 square metres, the 32-month contract calls for the construction of four towers. One will be 21 storeys high and house the hotel and furnished apartments with a total of 436 rooms. There will also be two 23-floor residential towers, each with 117 apartments and an 18-floor tower with 108 offices.The other bidders included Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises and Arabtec Construction, both local, and Australia's Leighton Gulf.The consultant is Lebanon's Khatib & Alami; the project manager is the UK's EC Harris.
