Riyadh is pushing ahead with plans to expand King Fahd Industrial Port, which will service the Jubail II infrastructure development.

The invitations to prequalify have been issued to companies for the contract to build a new petrochemicals quay and four new births, access roads to the site and power and water facilities.

The port will serve the Jubail II project, a $4,000 million redevelopment of the industrial city's infrastructure. Bidding for the new port contract will start in May, with the winner scheduled to be announced in March next year. The work is due to be completed by June 2011.
