Knowledge Economic City signs deal to establish specialist institutions

02 April 2008
Knowledge Economic City in Medina has signed an memorandum of understanding with the local Technical & Vocational Training Corporation to establish specialised institutions to train Saudis in communications and IT.

The deal will also see the construction of communication and IT colleges.

KEC will allocate land for the colleges, which will accommodate up to 24,000 students. Masterplans and detailed design drawings are yet to be finalised.

Upon completion, the complexes will be jointly managed by KEC and TVTC.

TVTC was formed through a government decree to combine training centres run by the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry with technical institutes run by the Education Ministry.
