The local KCC Engineering & Contracting Company submitted the lowest bid in May
Kuwait’s Central Tenders Committee (CTC) has approved the local KCC Engineering & Contracting Company (KCC) for a $91m deal to provide project services for state refiner Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC).
The deal was approved by the CTC on 18 July.
KCC submitted a bid of KD25.02m ($90.7m) for the refinery projects services deal, beating rival proposals from nine other local firms in a 16 May bid round.
KNPC currently operates three refineries; Mina al-Ahmadi, Mina Abdullah and Shuaiba, with a total refining capacity of 936,000 barrels a day (b/d). The company plans to build a a fourth refinery at Al-Zour, lifting total output to 1.4 million b/d, while expanding and rehabilitating its existing refineries. The older Shuaiba refinery will also be retired (MEED 8:7:11).
