Kuwait plans to quadruple its natural gas production by 2030
Kuwait Oil Company has awarded the US Black & Veatch contract to support natural gas processing on its Jurassic field.
The firm has won the licensing technology and related services contract for sulphur recovery and acid gas removal units to support natural gas processing at the Jurassic Gas Facility 1, which is set for completion in 2021.
Two acid gas removal trains designed for feed gas flow, three parallel identical sulphur recovery trains, with dedicated tail gas treatment units for each sulphur train - form part of the technology solution that will be provided.
The Jurassic Gas Facility 1, designed to produce 590m cubic feet a day (cfd) of gas, is being developed to meet Kuwaits growing demand.
Kuwait plans to produce more than 4bn cfd by 2030 - primarily to meet power generation requirements. The Opec member currently burns a large volume of oil products to meet its utility needs.
