Kuwait's ministry of communication has signed two contracts worth KD7.84m ($27.38m) with two local firms for the maintenance of the country's landline telephone network, Kuwait Times has reported. The move follows repeated complaints about problems activating or connecting landline telephones in different regions across the country. The first contract was awarded to Kuwait Network Electronic Co is for three years and has a value of KD4.62m, while the second contract was awarded to TCIL for KD3.22m and is for one year.
