Bids for $3.9bn-worth or road projects under evaluation
Kuwaits Public Works Ministry (MPW) has moved to 12 March the deadline for the submission of offers for the contract to study, design and supervise the rehabilitation, construction and maintenance of the 2ndand 3rd Ring roads and Damascus Street.
The original deadline for bids submission was on 12 February
Firms that have been invited to submit an offer for the contract include:
- CDM Smith (US/Germany)
- Engineering Consultants Group (ECG; Egypt)
- Ineco (Spain)
- Obermeyer (Germany)
- Parsons Brinckerhoff / WSP (US)
- Proyapi (Turkey)
- Salfo & Associates (Greece)
- SMEC (Australia)
Bids for an estimated $3.9bn-worth of road projects in Kuwait are under evaluation, with a further $5bn-worth of schemes under design or study, according to data from regional projects tracker MEED Projects.
Close to $14bn-worth of roads infrastructure including bridges, tunnels, streets and utility networks are also under construction. More than one-third of these projects were awarded in 2016.
Sources in Kuwait, however, told MEED that most road projects awarded last year have yet to begin actual construction.
