Kuwait ministry issues road tenders

Two tenders have been issued for road improvements in Kuwait, with a total value of KD35m ($132m).

The first package covers the construction, completion and maintenance of the Mohammed bin Qasim road tunnel, from the crossroads with the fourth ring road to Jamal Abdul Naser Street.

The project's duration is expected to be 18 months. The value for the contract is estimated at up to KD20m ($75.4m).

Seven local companies have been prequalified for the work including Mohammed Abdul Mohsin al-Kharafi & Sons General Trading & Contracting Company; Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading Company; and Mushrif Trading & Contracting.

The second project, valued at KD15m ($56.2m), covers the construction and maintenance of the airport road tunnel from the crossroads with the fourth ring road to Jamal Abdul Nasser Street

Eight local firms have been prequalified for the work, including Combined Group Contracting, United Gulf Construction and Boodai Constructions Company.

The scope of works for both projects includes a box-culvert construction, dewatering, backfilling and temporary road construction.

The closing date for both bids is 17 August.

The Public Works Ministry is the client for both projects.
