Kuwait refinery operator invites catalyst handling bids

10 February 2008
State refinery operator Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has invited three groups of companies to submit bids by 27 March for a major contract to provide it with catalyst loading services.

Under the terms of the long-term contract, the successful contractor will load and unload new and used catalysts from ships and at the Mina al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refineries.

The three invited groups are Saudi Arabia’s Arabian Pipeline & Services Company, the local Kharafi National with France’s Camom, and the local Ratqa General Trading & Contracting Company.

Catalysts are an essential component of the refining process. They are used to speed up the crude cracking process.
