Kuwait has restored multiple overhead transmission lines that were taken out of service following damage caused by falling debris linked to air defence activity earlier this week.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water & Renewable Energy said late on 24 March that seven overhead lines across several areas were affected by the incident.

In a follow-up update on 25 March, the ministry confirmed that repair works had progressed, with several lines returned to service.

Two repaired lines are awaiting reconnection to the national grid.

The ministry also said one overhead line was restored remotely using digital monitoring and control systems, enabling a faster response.

In an interview with Kuwait TV, ministry spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat said field teams coordinated with security authorities to ensure safe repair operations.

The ministry also awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract this week for a 400kV overhead transmission line linking the Shagaya solar energy generation station with Wafra in southern Kuwait.

Local firm Power Grid Company is the contractor for the project, for which three bids were submitted last year.
