Kuwait seeks consultants for airport project

21 July 2015

Deadline extended for bid submission for airport package 1

  • New deadline set for 26 July
  • Plant and tunnel structures to service the proposed main terminal

Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works (MPW) is extending the deadline for the submission of bids to provide technical and financial consultancy services for the central plant and related tunnel structures of the main terminal building project. The new deadline is 26 July.

The project is part of Kuwait Airport’s renovation programme, being overseen by the Directorate-General for Civil Aviation (DGCA), which allocated $6bn for the airport’s overall renovation

The largest component of the renovation plan is a new passenger terminal building, known as Terminal 2. This has not yet been awarded due to the high bids placed by prequalified contractors. The scheme is being retendered by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW).

It is understood that the plant and tunnel structures will provide and support services to the new passenger terminal building. The rest of the renovation projects comprise an expansion to existing facilities, or construction of new aprons and runways.
