Firms have until 29 December to bid for work at Sabah al-Salem University campus
Kuwait University has extended the submission deadline to 29 December for bids for an estimated $400m contract involving the construction, operation and management of five buildings at its $5.2bn Sabah al-Salem University campus. The deadline has been extended several times after initially being set at 8 October.
The work covers the construction of the faculty of social sciences, faculty of arts, faculty of Islamic studies, a prayer hall and a teaching staff club at the campus.
The university has prequalified 22 consortiums, each made up of international and local companies, for the tender.
The Sabah al-Salem campus at Shadidiyah is being developed to gather all of the universitys faculties, which are spread across the capital, on to one site. The campus will be co-educational and able to accommodate up to 30,000 students. It will have more than 25 faculty buildings, as well as a 600-bed hospital for the medicine faculty.
