Kuwait working on rail projects

28 November 2016

Obstacles still remain

Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects’ (KAPP) Higher Committee has approved the feasibility study for the Kuwait National Railroad Project, according to general manager Mutlaq Al-Sanei, speaking at MEED’s Kuwait Projects conference on 28 November.

KAPP is now working to remove obstacles with other public entities, before launching the project.

Al-Sanei did not give a procurement timeline.

Kuwait has committed to carrying out the project as part of the GCC rail network. However, rail projects have been put on hold in other GCC countries.

The Kuwait Metropolitan Rapid Transit project is still in feasibility studies dues to its massive size, Al-Sanei added.

KAPP is also working on two real estate projects. Advisory contracts for South al-Jahra Labour City have been signed. For the Egaila Services & Entertainment Centre, an advisory contract has been tendered.
