Aramco awards four new contracts connected to Fadhili gas plant
Saudi Aramco has signed four new engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts related to its $13.3bn Fadhili gas processing plant in the east of the kingdom, the state-owned oil company revealed.
The contracts included an award to Indias Larsen & Toubro for the construction of offshore facilities to feed gas into the plant, which is thought to be the estimated $1.5bn contract to expand production facilities at the offshore Hasbah field. MEED revealed that Larsen & Toubro had been selected for the contract in April.
Aramco and Saudi Electricity Company awarded the contract to develop the Fadhili independent power project (IPP) to a consortium led by UK/Frances Engie.
According to reports from the signing ceremony on 20 July, Saudi KAD Construction was awarded a contract on Fadhili downstream, while Mohammed al-Subeae & Sons Investment Holding Company won the contract to build the Fadhili residential camp.
The Fadhili project aims to boost the kingdoms gas production capacity to more than 17 billion cubic feet a day (cf/d) by 2020 by processing both onshore and offshore gas piped to the plant.
Ten contracts had already been awarded on the gas scheme. MEED reported in September 2015 that Spains Tecnicas Reunidas and UK-based Petrofac had been selected for the three main EPC packages on the processing plant.
