Infrastructure award at Qatar’s Lusail development
The local HBK Contracting has won a QR100m ($27m) contract to build infrastructure at Qatar Entertainmment City.
The 18-month contract includes the construction of roads, six bridge, water pipelines and sewerage networks.
Developed by UAE-based Abu Dhabi Investment House the 1 square kilometre project will be built at Lusail to the north of Doha.
A number of developers from around the region are involved in the project. Dubai-based Majid Al-Futtaim will develop the downtown district, Kuwait’s United Development Company will develop the southern district, and US-based Six Flags will build a theme park.
Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company is the master developer for Lusail. The mixed-use development covers 35 square kilometres and includes residential, commercial and retail areas. It will provide accommodation for 200,000 people, along with schools, hospitals and entertainment facilities (MEED 17:7:09).
