Company to build Central Library and administrative building for Faisal Islamic Bank

Local contractor SIAC Construction has been awarded two contracts for the construction of buildings in Egypt’s new capital city development.

The first contract is for the Central Library, which involves the construction of two buildings with a total built-up area of 24,000 square metres. The deal includes civil works; architectural works; interior and exterior finishing works; mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works; and landscaping.

The project manager for the scheme is the Army Engineering Authority and the consultant is the Administrative Capital for Urban Development, which is also the project owner.

The second contract is for the construction of a building for the local Faisal Islamic Bank. The deal involves constructing an administrative building with a total built-up area of 37,000 sq m. Like the Central Library, SIAC’s contract includes civil works, architectural works, interior and exterior finishing works, MEP works, and landscaping.

The project manager is the Army Engineering Authority, the consultant is Engineering Consultants Group, and the project owner is Faisal Islamic Bank.

Earlier in December, officials in Egypt said talks with China Fortune Land & Development Company (CFLD) for $20bn-worth of development projects at the new capital city, located to the east of Cairo, had fallen through, according to a report by Bloomberg.
