Al-Burouj is set to be completed within 30 months
Abu Dhabi Capital Group has appointed Egyptian firm Hassan Allam Construction for work on a residential project in Cairo.
The contract will see the local firm complete the building work on 250 villas as well as all associated infrastructure.
The project, which is called Zodiac, is set to be completed within 30 months.
Earlier this year, MEED reported that Capital Group Properties, an Egyptian real estate company owned by the UAEs Abu Dhabi Capital Group and Al-Ain Properties, has invited contractors to submit bids for its $5.1bn mixed-use scheme in Egypt.
According to a source close to the project, Capital Group Properties invited 12 contractors to submit bids for work on the first phase of the $5.1bn scheme. The source also told MEED the deadline for the tender is expected to be in mid-June.
The tender results remain unclear, although it is understood the UAEs Place Dynamix has been appointed as the projects main consultant.
The project is located in Al-Shorouk city, northeast of Cairo near the proposed New Capital City scheme and will be called Al-Burouj.
It is understood the development will be made up of 30,000 apartments and a convention centre as well as office, retail and hospitality space.
