30 January 2013

Project will house up to 9,000 employees

The local Red Sea Housing Services Company has been awarded a SR226m ($60m) contract by South Korea’s GS Engineering & Construction to build labour accommodation for staff working on the PetroRabigh expansion.

The local firm will construct housing compounds which will accommodate almost 9,000 employees working for GS Engineering & Construction on the PetroRabigh refinery scheme. GS Engineering & Construction will lease the accommodation for 30 months, and Red Sea Housing will also provide electricity supply, maintenance services, recreational facilities and mosques.

In May 2012, GS Engineering & Construction was awarded three packages at the $5bn PetroRabigh expansion scheme by Saudi Aramco and Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical.
