The Developers, a newly formed venture of local private investors, is planning a BD 45 million ($118.4 million) residential project in Juffair. A tender for the main construction package is due to be issued during the first half of November.
Called The Fontana Towers, the beachfront scheme will include four interconnected towers containing 400 apartments in addition to a swimming pool, water park and parking facilities for 600 cars. Completion is due in 2009. The local Aref Sadeq Design Consultants drew up the designs. A smaller project in the Juffair area is also under way. Construction is due to start in early 2007 of an estimated BD 5 million ($13.2 million), 30-storey residential tower. Manama-based Projacs International is the project manager. The client is the local/Kuwaiti First Real Estate (MEED 10:3:06).Sharjah-based Al-Hamad Contracting Company is also building a 20-storey twin-tower luxury apartment complex in the area.
