L&T wins royal hangar job

Larsen & Toubro (Oman), part of India's Larsen & Toubro (L&T), received in late January a letter of intent for the contract to build a new hangar for the royal flight at Seeb International Airport. The company beat off competition from seven other bidders to take the award, valued at RO 15 million ($38 million). The Diwan of the Royal Court of Affairs is the client.

The scope of works covers the construction of: a twin-berth hangar, with the capacity to house two large commercial aircraft, associated operations and workshop buildings; a taxiway link to the main runway and apron extension; and an 11-kV electrical distribution centre. The mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) package will be let to a subcontractor. The UK's Halcrow Groupis the consultant (MEED 22:11:02).
