Majan homes in on Sohar

The local Majan Gulf Properties has announced plans to develop a new mixed-use project at Sohar. The

The local Majan Gulf Properties has announced plans to develop a new mixed-use project at Sohar. The
scheme is one of several planned by the developer across the
sultanate.

The Sohar Residential & Commercial project, to be located 25 kilometres from the industrial port, will involve the construction of three residential blocks offering 260 apartments, an office block and six villa
compounds including more than 570 villas.

The entire project will cover an area of about 1 million square metres. Total project costs are estimated to be RO 56 million ($145 million).

Majan subsidiary International Gulf Development & Contracting Company (IGDC) will carry out the construction. Work is due to start in September and is expected to take three years to complete. Majan subsidiary AlMarzougi-Nassif Consultants is the design consultant.

Majan is also planning to develop a 132,000-square-metre logistics park to serve the industrial sector at Sohar. It will include commercial buildings, a light industry bay, labour camps and catering facilities. Plans include a RO 300 million ($779 million) resort at Khasab, for which the masterplan is expected to be completed in March and the RO 10 million ($26 million) The Pearl beach resort located on the coast near Sohar.
