Malaysians take DIFC precinct

Malaysia's Peremba Constructionhas become the latest international firm to make its mark on the Dubai construction scene, by winning the gateway precinct contract on the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) development. The contract, the first to be won by the contractor in the GCC, is valued at AED 285 million ($77.6 million - MEED 7:5:04).

The contract, which will take about 14 months to complete, calls for the construction of four buildings, ranging in height from five-eight storeys. The total built-up area is about 120,000 square metres. Germany's Bauercarried out the piling works for the buildings.

The precinct will be located around the main gateway building, which is under construction by the local/Australian Nasa Multiplex.

The UK's RMJMis the consultant and Turner Internationalof the US is the project manager (MEED 26:3:04).
