Market Talk: Trojan Holding tackles turnkey projects

17 December 2019
The company has built a reputation as a one-stop shop for project delivery by focusing on technology and sustainability

Q&A with Eng Hamad al-Ameri, managing director of Trojan Holding

TrojanHow is Trojan Holding approaching sustainability in the construction business to achieve the government’s 2021 goals?

Sustainability is very much at the forefront of where the region is shifting, and it is an attitude we like to think we helped shape. The goals set by 2021 for the UAE are ambitious, but it is our responsibility as a leading construction firm to strive to make sure they are met.

It has always been a focus of Trojan Holding to promote sustainability within its communities and to focus on the protection of the environment, conservation of resources and prevention of pollution.

Trojan works diligently to comply with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards and ensure all staff are trained to work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. We also strive to adhere to the Pearl Rating System standards.

How is Trojan Holding using technology to drive efficiency and its performance in the market?

Trojan has adapted new technologies across the board, from aluminium and water works to construction sites, logistics, new equipment and its own architecture and construction methodology.

The firm has been working hard to adopt new technologies, believing that there is great potential for technology to play a more important role across the construction sector, including in design, planning and management.

However, the greatest potential is found in the field of robotics on construction sites. Despite being in its early stages, there will be a massive jump in this field within four or five years.

For the time being, the technology available today helps to identify and categorise the specific needs of each segment in terms of construction.

What is the purpose and anticipated impact of the company’s 100 Trojan Young Engineers initiative?

Trojan is always seeking to improve the skills of its people while attracting the most qualified and committed professionals. The 100 Trojan Young Engineers initiative invites university students from across the country to various live construction sites in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to experience first-hand day-to-day activities and gain an insight into working life by experiencing both management and on-site roles.

The programme spearheads the company’s bid to foster a new generation of engineering leaders, offering them the opportunity of practical experience that will allow them to contribute successfully to the UAE’s construction sector.

What do you consider to be Trojan Holding’s chief accomplishments?

Established in 2012, Trojan has stayed true to its vision to become a one-stop shop, recognised for its timely delivery and quality workmanship.

This approach has led Trojan to expand quickly, taking in numerous companies that include Trojan General Contracting, specialising in building projects; National Projects & Construction, specialising in infrastructure projects; Royal Advance Electro Mechanical; Reem Emirates Aluminium & Glass Factory; Hi-Tech Precast & Block Works Factory; and Al-Maha Modular Steel Structures Factory.

We are constantly challenging ourselves to find brilliant, timely solutions to realise our clients’ visions and head-off problems before they arise. As the organisation has grown in size, so has its capability to deliver turnkey projects.
