Phase one delayed until 2015
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) has said the completion of its zero-carbon emissions city has been delayed until 2025, following a review process to update the project’s masterplan, taking into account market and technology developments. Phase one of the $22bn project has also been delayed by two years to 2015. As a result of the review, the company said it is to scale back a planned Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) system and buy renewable energy from off-site locations instead of relying solely on on-site sources, the state-owned company said in a statement.
