Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) has signed a project development agreement (PDA) with Indonesian power company PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali to develop the world’s largest floating solar power plant.
With a planned capacity of 200MW, the photovoltaic (PV) solar power plant will cover a total area of 225 hectares on top of the Cirata Reservoir in the West Java province of Indonesia.
PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali is a subsidiary of the state electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
The project forms part of Indonesia’s ambitious target for renewable energy to contribute to 31 per cent of total power produced by 2050.
