McDermott wins offshore deal in Middle East

07 March 2016

Scope includes engineering, procurement and installation of offshore pipelines

US-listed McDermott has been awarded a contract for an offshore project in the Middle East by an upstream oil and gas operator, according to a statement released by the company on 3 March.

The scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation and installation of offshore pipelines.

Engineering has started and vessels have been mobilised for the scheme, according to the statement.

McDermott says the project is being fast-tracked and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.

The statement did not reveal the country where the project is located, the project owner, or the value of the deal.

The company described the contract as “large”.

In October 2015, Qatar Petroleum awarded McDermott International an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) deal for four wellhead jackets, including two that will be installed in the Bul Hanine field.

McDermott is also bidding on Saudi Aramco’s Hasbah gas field expansion scheme.
