MEED, the region’s leading business intelligence provider, has announced the finalists and national winners for the 14th edition of its annual MEED Projects Awards in association with Mashreq.
The awards celebrate and recognise the best projects completed in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region over the past 12 months, with 83 projects across 18 categories covering the energy, construction, industry, transport, power and water sectors selected as National Winners this year.
The award’s National Winners were selected after a judging process that assessed projects for their engineering excellence, technological innovation, sustainable practices and overall benefit to society.
The list of the 2024 MEED Project Awards National Winners is available on the awards website.
This year’s submissions also witnessed particularly strong input from public bodies across the GCC, with Bahrain’s Ministry of Works, Qatar Free Zone Authority, Saudi Arabia’s Diriyah Company and Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions Company all securing multiple National Winner accolades.
The National Winners will now proceed to a further round of judging by an independent panel of more than 70 judges, who will gather to determine the region’s winning project in each of the 18 categories – to be announced at a gala awards reception on 20 November at the JW Marriott Hotel Marina.
The awards ceremony will culminate in the announcement of the prestigious Project of the Year award, which in past years has included iconic projects such as the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Haramain high-speed railway in Saudi Arabia.
Ed James, head of content and research for the Middle East and Africa at MEED and GlobalData, noted: “We are thrilled to recognise the projects that have been shortlisted for National Winner status and the organisations behind them and we wish to congratulate all those that have contributed to driving the development of the regional projects landscape to new heights of innovation and excellence.”
Arun Mathur, executive vice-president and global head of contracting finance at Mashreq, stated: “As a long-standing partner of the MEED Project Awards, Mashreq is deeply committed to acknowledging and celebrating the outstanding achievements of this year’s National Winners. Each year, we are inspired by the innovation and unwavering dedication driving the region’s infrastructure and development.
“These projects not only set new benchmarks for excellence but also make significant contributions to the region’s socio-economic development. It is our honour to support these awards, which highlight the very best in design, engineering and construction across the Mena region.”
