Meraas receives bids for Dubai beachfront development

Scheme will be built in front of Jumeirah Beach Residences

Local developer Meraas Development has received bids for the contract to build a beachfront retail and entertainment development in Dubai.

A selected number of contractors submitted bids for the project, which will be built on the beach in front of the Jumeirah Beach Residences development between the Hilton and Sheraton hotels. The site is currently used as an open car park. The development will include retail and food and beverage outlets.

The architect is UK-based Benoy.

Meraas is now pushing ahead with a number of projects across Dubai. It recently said that it is pushing ahead with infrastructure work on its Pearl Jumeirah Island, which previously formed the first phase of its ambitious $95bn Jumeirah Gardens City scheme in Dubai.

In December last year, Meraas awarded the local/UK Al-Futtaim Carillion the contract to build the first phase of its The Avenue project. The three-phase retail development will be spread over 1.1 kilometres and will be built on the crossroads of Al-Wasl road and Safa road. The consultant for the scheme is the local Dewan Architects & Engineers.
