The netbook market share of Microsoft's operating system (OS) in the Gulf has jumped from 68% to 97% in the last 12 months, according to Wilson Xavier, Business Group Lead - Windows Client, Microsoft Gulf. He told Gulf News that Microsoft's success in the netbook market has come at the expense of the open source Linux Operating System. He said many people who bought Linux are returning it because they want a netbook computing environment that mirrors that of full-size PCs. When they realise their Linux-based netbook PC doesn't deliver that same quality of experience, they get frustrated and take it back, he said.
