Hotels in the Middle East achieved the highest occupancy, average room rates, and revenue per available room (revPAR) globally in 2009, according to a new report by business advisory firm Deloitte. Citing data prepared by STR Global, the report said occupancy reached 61.3% for the year, while average room rates and revPAR stood at $202 and $214, respectively. 'Hoteliers in the Middle East continue to be global leaders achieving levels of revPAR that other regions could only dream about,' said Alex Kyriakidis, Global Managing Partner of Tourism Hospitality & Leisure at Deloitte.
