Biography: Mike Cairney is a partner at UK-headquartered consultant EC Harris, leading operations and managing a team of 360 employees in Dubai.

An engineer by training, he has been involved in the creation and operation of more than 80 major facilities during 30 years in the industry. Having graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Leeds University in 1977, he started on building sites as an engineer.

Cairney joined EC Harris in 1986 as a project manager and spent six years working for the Xerox UK Real Estate facilities management business.

As a certified chartered director with the British Institute of Directors, he has a strong working knowledge of commercial and managerial models. In 2005, he moved to Dubai to lead project management activities in the GCC for EC Harris. He has also developed a real estate and facilities management consultancy unit in the UAE with more than 20 employees.
