Rabat in February 2004 signed a convention for the estimated MD 4,500 million ($532 million) development of the Mogador resort, in Essaouira province, with a consortium of L'Atelier, Belgium's Thomas & Piron, Dutch golf specialist Colbert Orco and Risma, a subsidiary of France's Accor. The eight-year agreement for the development, over about 400 hectares, will see the construction of two golf courses and hotels and residential facilities for about 8,000 people. Belgium's Samog began work on a Eur 120 million ($154 million) construction contract on the development in February this year.

Spain's Fadesa in August 2003 signed an investment convention for the Eur 1,500 million ($1,925 million) Saidia resort, which will include three golf courses, eight hotels and 22 plots for villas and apartments for more than 3,000 people, in addition to a water park, cinema, office facilities and clinic.

A convention has also been signed for the Mazagan resort, and expressions of interest were in January invited for work on the 26,000-bed Taghazout resort near Agadir.
