Mubadala/ERWDA building goes for bid

17 December 2004
Tender documents have been issued to prequalified contractors for the contract to build a new low-rise office building for the local Mubadala Development and the Environmental Research & Wildlife Development Agency (ERWDA) in the Khalidiya district of Abu Dhabi city. Prequalifiers have been given until 4 February to submit bids to the developer, the local ADDAR Real Estate Services.

The 23-month contract covers piling, foundations, superstructure, finishes, glazing, lifts and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works, as well as landscaping. The 11-storey building and associated car park structure will have a gross floor area of just over 50,000 square metres. The architectural consultant is the US' Jung Brannen Associates, while ADDAR Real Estate is the project manager.

The project is expected to attract strong interest from contractors, given that ADDAR has an extensive list of upcoming projects in the local real estate market. Details of the company's ambitious plans are set to be unveiled early next year, once the formalities surrounding the initial public offering (IPO) in ADDAR Properties, which is expected to take over ADDAR Real Estate, are completed. The IPO closed in late November more than 450 times oversubscribed (MEED 3:12:04).
