Mushrif wins Wafra work

24 March 2006
The Central Tenders Committee (CTC) has approved the bid of KD 24.9 million ($85.8 million) submitted by the local Mushrif Trading & Contracting for the third package on the Wafra water distribution scheme. The client, the Ministry of Public Works, is expected to sign the contract soon. Construction will take about two years. Mushrif was low bidder when tenders were submitted last November. The project calls for the supply and installation of a 1.6-metre-diameter, 92-kilometre-long main pipeline from the data monitoring centre and wastewater treatment plant at Sulaibiya to agricultural farms at Wafra.

The local Kharafi National was awarded in January the KD 8.3 million ($28.8 million) contract covering the first phase of the project (MEED 13:1:06).
