The resort will be built at the Jebel Ali Sailing club area between Dubai Marina and Mina Seyahi Hotel. The centerpiece of the development will be a donut-shaped five star hotel.
It also includes commercial and residential towers and a dedicated marina with more than 60 berths.
Construction will begin in mid-2008 and on completion the development will accommodate approximately 10,000 residents in more than 2,000 residential units, will offer over 25,000 square metres of retail space and over 17,000 square metres of office space.
Van Oord of the Netherlands is working on the AED 70 million ($19 million) dredging package. The contract involves the removal of two breakwaters, the placement of 750,000 tonnes of rock and the dredging of 650,000 cubic metres of sand for two new breakwaters and an artificial reef.
The UK’s Atkins is the consultant (MEED 20:7:07).
