Retail and food outlets to be built on project near Atlantis

Dubai-based developer Nakheel has floated a tender to build The Pointe project on the Palm Jumeirah. Located at the tip of the man-made island across the bay from the Atlantis hotel, the project consists of retail, food and beverage areas, external landscape areas, car parking structure, monorail station and waterfront promenade.

The deadline for submitting bids is 29 September 2013. The tender is the latest in a string of contracts that have been put up for bid by the developer in recent months. In August, contractors were asked to submit bids for the construction of the Azure Residences and for piling works on the new Nakheel Mall. The bids for constructing the Azure Residences were due on 28 August, while the deadline for bids for the piling works on Nakheel Mall is 18 September.

In July, Nakheel floated a tender for the construction of its Club Vista Mare project on the Palm Jumeirah. The scheme consists of 33 studio apartments with outdoor terraces and full glass opening onto the Palm Jumeirah’s shoreline. Club Vista Mare will be directly linked to the Nakheel Mall. Nakheel also recently floated a tender for the construction of 190 villas at its Jumeirah Park project in the south of the emirate.

In May, the developer invited contractors to bid for the deal to build the expansion of Ibn Battuta mall. The 28,000-sq-m extension will add another 150 shops to the mall.

In February, MEED reported that Nakheel is preparing to tender $1.8bn of construction contracts in 2013 as it continues to build new projects to support its existing communities.
